2022 was a watershed year. Among the top 20 largest peak-to-trough drawdowns for the S&P 500 going back to 1961, never, in history, in an EXTREME drawdown for stocks, have Treasuries, the risk-off asset, gone down more than stocks. At the same time, the advent of ChatGPT ushered in a new era of AI-led growth and transformation on a global basis, akin to the Industrial Revolution!

We are a “non-me-too” investment management and advisory firm. We strive to generate attractive returns for our investors beyond the traditional playbook. During good times, no one cares about such details – the rising tide lifts all boats. However, stormy periods such as the 2008 global financial crisis, the near-crash in March 2020, and the prolonged negative real rate environment (i.e., inflation higher than deposit interest rate) show why managers with multi-faceted insights and skill-sets across asset classes and geographies are so valuable. To say the least, losing less than others during bad times means you have a better chance of getting ahead even faster during the subsequent recovery. On the other hand, having a diversified global portfolio that spans across liquid assets, high-quality compounders (listed or private companies) and non-fiat monetary assets are crucial to ensuring sustained capital growth.
